'Party Of Mahatma Gandhi's Ideology...': Congress Issues Notice To Raja Pateria

Raja Pateria who made controversial statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi was issued a show-cause notice by the Madhya Pradesh Congress.

New Delhi: The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to its leader and former minister Raja Pateria over his "kill Modi" remark. In a notice issued to Pateria the party give him three days time to file his reply as to why he should not be expelled from the party.

"On December 12, 2022, you used very objectionable and reprehensible words about Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the Congress meeting held in Panna distrct's Pawai. This act of yours comes under the category of gross indiscipline," the letter stated.

"Therefore, you should answer within three days why you should not be expelled from the membership of the Congress party," the notice stated further.

Condemning Pateria's statement MP Congress chief Kamal Nath said that "Congress is a party of Mahatma Gandhi's ideology".

"I condemn such statements,Cong is a party of Mahatma Gandhi's ideology. Issue is now in court and we'll accept whatever it'll decide. I've already issued show cause notice.Once the statement is made, clarifications should be given to Police," he said.

After a purported video of him surface online where he could be heard saying to "kill" PM Modi in "order to save constitution", the Congress leader was arrested from his residence in Panna earlier today.

After his video surfaced on social media, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra ordered to register a case against Pateria.

“.....Modi will end elections. Modi will divide on the basis of religion, caste and language. The future of Dalits, tribals and minorities is in danger. If you want to save the Constitution, then be ready to kill Modi. Kill in the sense of defeating him,” Pateria told a meeting of Congress workers at Pawai town in Panna district, as quoted by news agency PTI.

However, Pateria later said that his statement was manipulated and that his remarks were over the results of Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. He said that his statement to finish PM Modi was in a political context and not in a literal sense.

Reacting to Pateria’s statement, Mishra ordered a case to be registered against Pateria.
