A massive fire broke out at the Vallabh Bhavan State Secretariat in Bhopal on Saturday morning.

A massive fire broke out at the Vallabh Bhavan State Secretariat in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning. The fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire, which has been brought under control now. No injuries and casualties were reported in the incident. The smoke is emanating from the third floor now where the official documents have been kept, news agency PTI reported as per inputs from the Bhopal Municipal Corporation's Fire Officer Rameshwar Neel.

In the video of the fire which has surfaced online, the firefighters can be seen extinguishing the flames, while thick black plumes of smoke billowed from the top of the building into the sky.

Following the incident, CM Mohan Yadav stated that the state government has issued directions to ensure that a similar incident does not occur again in future. "It has come to my knowledge that a fire broke out on the third floor of the old building of Vallabh Bhavan. On the basis of the information received from the Collector, I told the CS to monitor it - that detailed information on the incident be gathered and I have also been told that the fire has been brought under control," TOI quoted him saying.

As per PTI's report, a few sanitation workers who were working near gate number 5 and 6 of the secretariat complex noticed smoke in the building at 9:30 am after which the fire brigades were alerted.

Fire At Satpura Bhawan In Bhopal

In a similar incident, a major fire broke out last year at the Satpura Bhawan in Bhopal which houses various offices of the Madhya Pradesh government.  The fire that started from the third floor of the building spread to the sixth floor of the building and the terrace. It was reportedly visible from different parts of the city as well.

After the incident, former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan asked the Indian Air Force to help in the firefighting operations which continued through the night.

In response to his request, fire tenders from the Indian Army, Airport Authority of India, BHEL, BPCL, Indian Oil Corporation, and Mandideep and Raisen reached the spot to douse the fire. The blaze had destroyed furniture and several documents of various departments. Around 30-40 tankers and 22 fire tenders were involved in the firefighting operation. However, no casualties were reported as the staff immediately rushed out of the office premises.

Satpura Bhawan is located on a hill in front of the state government secretariat Vallabh Bhawan, where a massive fire broke out today.
