Covid Cases Above 900 In Maharashtra, Active Tally Stands At 4,487

Maharashtra on Friday recorded 926 Covid-19 cases, a significant increase from the previous day's tally of 803, while the death toll rose by three.

Maharashtra on Friday reported 926 fresh Covid-19 cases, and three deaths while the capital Mumbai recorded 276 new cases, according to the state's daily media bulletin on the virus. The state total is 81,48,599, with 1,48,457 fatalities. According to PTI, Mumbai led the way with 276 new cases, a 27 per cent increase from the previous day, while three deaths were reported in the districts of Gondia, Kolhapur, and Raigad. 

In the last 24 hours, the recovery count increased by 423 to 79,95,655, leaving the state with a caseload of 4,487.

According to state health department data, the recovery rate was 98.12 per cent, with a 1.8  per cent fatality rate. The state recorded 803 new coronavirus cases and three fatalities on Thursday, bringing the total number of infections to 81,47,673, including 1,48,454 deaths, it said.

Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra's Leader of Opposition, said on Friday that the state government should investigate the COVID-19 situation immediately, as cases have been increasing, and inform citizens.

"During the recently concluded Assembly sessions, we had asked the state government about the measures it was taking and the course of action it had decided to allow people's representatives to return to their constituencies and work on dealing with the COVID-19 situation by taking officials into confidence," Pawar was quoted as saying by PTI.

According to Union health ministry data updated on Friday, India has logged 6,050 new coronavirus cases, the most in 203 days, while active cases have increased to 28,303.

Last September 16, there were 6,298 cases reported.

The death toll has risen to 5,30,943 with 14 deaths reported from Maharashtra, two from Karnataka, one from Rajasthan, one from Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab, and one from Kerala, according to data updated at 8 am.

The daily positivity rate was 3.39 percent, and the weekly positivity rate was 3.02 per cent, according to the report.

The total number of Covid cases is 4.47 crore. (4,47,45,104) According to the health ministry's website, active cases now account for 0.06 percent of total infections, with the national Covid recovery rate standing at 98.75 per cent.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,41,85,858, with a case fatality rate of 1.19 percent, according to the report. According to the ministry's website, the nationwide Covid vaccination drive has resulted in the administration of 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine.
