Janhit Morcha starts indefinite protest at DND flyway from today

New Delhi: The protest at DND flyway, connecting South Delhi to Noida, today entered second day, demanding the removal of the toll tax. The Janhit Morcha along with 20 other organizations had begun an indefinite protest spearheaded by ex-BJP minister Nawab Singh Nagar on Sunday. "DND is a place for the use of the public, not for business. But it has been turned into one by some then IAS officers at the time when it was constructed. DND is a result of their conspiracy. In this project primarily Rs. 193 crore was spent but these people showed it as Rs 408 crore," alleged Nagar in an exclusive conversation with ABP Live's Anurag Kumar. But despite this they are not ready to make it (DND) toll free", he said and added, "Against this injustice, we have organized a huge protest here since 10 am." "We are demanding that DND toll must be done away with," ex-BJP minister said claiming that the DND organisation has earned more than what they had spent. Ex-BJP minister also slammed the Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi Party government of CM Akhilesh Yadav and said the state government is involved in this unfair act. The demonstration is indefinite and will continue until we make DND toll free, Nagar affirmed. For the past one month, preparations for the protest have been under way at numerous meetings held at Nagar's residence in Sector 33. We have made several requests to present state government but all in vain, said Nagar who is spearheading the protest. It is pertinent to mention here that in addition to the monetary angle (Rs 28 for one side at present for cars) DND toll also costs commuters their valuable time as they have to face traffic jam at the checkpoint.
