Earlier in the day, a Bomb Disposal Squad and Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrived to Bhimber Gali in Poonch, where five troops were killed in a terror assault.
On Friday morning, an enormous search operation began in the jungles of Jammu and Kashmir's Bata-Doriya area to track down the terrorists who assaulted an Army vehicle in Poonch, killing five jawans.
The slain personnel, named as havildar Mandeep Singh, lance naik Debashish Baswal, lance naik Kulwant Singh, sepoy Harkrishan Singh, and sepoy Sewak Singh, were assigned to the army's Rashtriya Rifles unit and were stationed in the region for counter-terrorism operations.
The incident happened after militants opened fire on an Army vehicle they were riding in in Jammu's Rajouri district, killing five troops and wounding another. Operations were undertaken to track down the offenders, but no information about the attacks has been released thus far.
“The unidentified attackers took advantage of heavy rains and low visibility in the area,” the Army had said on Thursday in a statement, adding the army truck caught fire due to a likely grenade attack.
The Army vehicle was travelling from Bhimber Gali in the Poonch area to Sangiot.
