J&K: Four Suspects Arrested In Baramulla For Terror Links

All four accused persons were previously associated with terrorist Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh of Kunzer, who was earlier detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA)

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir seized a cache of arms and ammunition from two suspects and arrested them during a recent naka checking. The two suspects were identified as Gh Hassan Mir and Mukhtar Ahmad Khan.

The duo attempted to evade the joint parties of security forces and flee from the spot but were eventually caught. A subsequent search yielded 1 Chinese Pistol, 1 Pistol magazine, 12 live rounds, and 2 hand grenades.

In response to these findings, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Police Station Sheeri, initiating a thorough investigation into the matter.

During the ongoing investigation, two more suspects, Altaf Ahmad Rather and Farooq Ahmad Naqeeb, were brought in for questioning based on the information revealed by the initial suspects. Subsequently, both Altaf Ahmad Rather and Farooq Ahmad Naqeeb confessed to possessing arms and ammunition. Upon further disclosure, an additional 2 hand grenades were recovered from their possession, leading to their arrest in connection with the case.

The investigation has unveiled that all four accused persons were previously associated with terrorist Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh of Kunzer, who is currently detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA). A thorough investigation to reveal further links is underway.

Earlier, three Indian Army personnel were injured after a landmine exploded in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district along the Line of Control (LoC) on Wednesday, said the officials. Quoting preliminary information, the officials said that the three soldiers were patrolling Phagwari Gali area in Mendhar sector when the landmine got activated. On Tuesday, head constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar was shot dead by terrorists in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, marking the third consecutive day of terrorist attacks in the Kashmir valley.
