INX Media Case: Chidambaram's CBI custoday Ends Today; To Be Presented Before Court In Afternoon
CBI had lodged an FIR on May 15, 2017, alleging irregularities in FIPB clearance granted to INX Media group for receiving overseas funds of Rs 305 crore in 2007 during Chidambaram's tenure as finance minister. Thereafter, ED lodged a money laundering case in 2017.
New Delhi: Eight-day CBI custody of Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who has been held accused in INX media case, will end on Friday. He will be presented in front of Rouse Avenue Court post 2pm.As per reports, CBI is not very happy with answers given by Chidambaram during while in custody and the probe agency wants to leave no stone unturned.
CBI arrested Chidambaram on August 21:
CBI is likely to seek increase in Chidambaram’s custody claiming that “He didn’t cooperate during probe”. Former Home and Defence minister has been in CBI custody from past 8 days. He was arrested by the agency on August 21 from his Jorbagh residence. He was presented before court on August 22, which sent him for 4-day custody. On August 26, his custody was increased by 4 days.
ABP News processes ED documents, which claim that the bribe allegations in the case are directly linked to Chidambaram. CBI had sought these documents from ED. As per sources, it has been mentioned in these documents that the company which sent money had given lakhs of rupees as donations to Chidambaram’s trust. As per the documents,
