Huge Boost For BJP In Sikkim: 10 MLAs Of SDF Join Party

Pawan Kumar Chamling is the longest serving chief minister of an Indian state. He had broken the record of West Bengal's Jyoti Basu. Chamling has been the chief minister of Sikkim for more than 24 years since December 1994.

New Delhi: Ten legislators of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the national capital today.  The MLAs were inducted into the party fold in presence of BJP's working president JP Nadda and BJP general secretary Ram Madhav. Madhav congratulated the SDF MLAs for joining BJP and said BJP would now play "role of a constructive opposition" in the state. Former chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling who founded SDF reportedly did not join the saffron party. Pawan Kumar Chamling is the longest serving chief minister of an Indian state. He had broken the record of West Bengal's Jyoti Basu.  Chamling held the CM post for more than 24 years since December 1994. Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) president Prem Singh Tamang, popularly known as P.S. Golay, won the assembly elections this May and is the current chief minister of Sikkim.
