High-Level Meeting Underway At MHA In Wake Of Pahalgam Attacks

The meeting comes a week after the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed. Following the attack, intense counter-terrorism operations are underway in Jammu and Kashmir.

A high-level meeting is underway in the Ministry of Home Affairs in the national capital on Tuesday in the wake of Pahalgam terror attack.

Several high-ranking officials, including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan; Director Generals of Border Security Force, Assam Rifles and National Security Guard; and senior officials of Central Reserve Police Force and the Central Industrial Security Force were present in the meeting.

The meeting comes a week after the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed. Following the terror attack, intense counter-terrorism operations are underway at multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir.

On Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out raids at 13 locations in the Doda district to bust terrorist hideouts.

Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet is also set to meet on Wednesday for the first time since the April 22 terror attack. The meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been convened at 11 am on Wednesday.

There was no meeting of the Union Cabinet last week and only the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) had met on April 23 and had condemned the terror attack.

After the CCS meeting, India had on Wednesday last announced a number of measures, including downgrading diplomatic ties with Pakistan. Among other measures, India announced expulsion of Pakistani military attaches, suspension of the over six-decade-old Indus Water Treaty and immediate shutting down of the Attari land-transit post in view of the cross-border links to the Pahalgam terror attack.
