'One Step Closer To Realising Mission Gaganyaan Dream': PM Modi, Shah Hail ISRO On Successful Flight Test

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the launch has taken India a step closer to realising the dream of Mission Gaganyaan. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his joy on the occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised the efforts of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists on the successful accomplishment of the maiden developmental test flight mission of Gaganyaan. The PM said the launch has taken India one step closer to realising the dream of the country's first human space flight programme. ISRO launched the first uncrewed flight mission of the Gaganyaan programme on October 21, 2023, at 10:00 am IST.

"This launch takes us one step closer to realising India’s first human space flight program, Gaganyaan. My best wishes to our scientists at @isro," the PM said in a post on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah termed the achievement India's another space odyssey, adding "After the successful launch of the Chandrayaan-3, our nation is ready to take its next giant stride in the realm of space."

"Today the @isro launched #Gaganyaan's TV-D1 Test Flight into space scripting another remarkable space odyssey. My heartfelt congratulations to our scientists and our citizens on this momentous occasion of success and fulfilment," he said.

Known as Test Vehicle Development Flight (TV-D1) or Test Vehicle Abort Flight, the mission, carrying an uncrewed Crew Module and a Crew Escape System, took off from the First Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. Gaganyaan TV-D1 is an important mission because it will demonstrate the performance of the Crew Escape System, and is the first mission of Gaganyaan's uncrewed flight tests.
