Watch: Delhi Police Conduct ‘Tear Gas Drills’. Bharat Mandapam Illuminates In Tricolour Ahead Of G20 Summit

The G20 summit will bring together top international leaders, and the government is taking great care to ensure that every security aspect is as tight as possible.

The Delhi Police carried out a tear gas drill  on Friday as part of their security preparations for the upcoming G20 Summit, which is slated to take place in the national capital on September 9 and 10, news agency ANI reported. The summit will bring together top international leaders, and the government is taking great care to ensure that every security aspect is as tight as possible. Approximately 130,000 security personnel, including an 80,000-strong presence from the Delhi Police, would be deployed during the summit.

In a video released by news agency ANI, Delhi Police can be seen shooting tear gas while obeying directions. For this exercise, they picked a desolate spot.

Previously, practise sessions were held to train traffic cops and security staff for the movement of G20 Summit attendees in September.

Three carcade rehearsals were also held earlier on Saturday, each in three shifts, and went off without a hitch, according to authorities. The sites were fully staffed with security, traffic officers, paramedics, and firefighters throughout these rehearsals.

As the national capital is gearing up for the G20 Summit this weekend, the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi's Pragati Maidan, along with NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Council) building were illuminated in the colours of Tricolour on Friday evening.

In an video shared by the news agency ANI, the Bharat Mandapam, and NDMC building can be seen lit up with the Indian flag's colours.

Ahead of the summit, sound and fountain show is also being organised at Bharat Mandapam.
