Four Workers Die In An Explosion At Telangana Coal Mine

Four workers died and three were grievously injured in an explosion at an Open Cast Coal Mine in Peddapalli district, Telangana.

New Delhi: Four workers died and three injured in an explosion at an Open Cast Coal Mine. According to reports, the coal mine was part of the state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) and is located in Peddapalli district, Telangana. Reports say that the workers were placing detonators for breaking huge boulders at the mine when the mishap occurred. The exact reason for the blast is yet to be confirmed. The four workers who were hired by a private contractor died instantly. Three workers with serious injuries have been rushed to the hospital Four workers have died, and three others seriously injured in the incident," a senior police official who was part of the rescue operation said in a PTI report. A senior official of SCCL has also said that an inquiry will be made on the incident and officials of the PSU have rushed to the spot. The incident comes soon after the recent gas leak at the LG Polymers plant in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh which happened in the first week of May. The styrene gas leak from the factory of the multinational firm claimed around 12 lives and 375 people were hospitalized. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu also demanded the closure of the plant. (This is a developing story. More details are awaited)
