Former Punjab CM Surjit Singh Barnala passes away at 91

Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister and Governor of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh Surjit Singh Barnala died here on Saturday following a brief spell of illness. He was 91. Barnala, who was Punjab Chief Minister from 1985 to 1987, was admitted to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) recently where he breathed his last on Saturday. Barnala had remained Governor of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Uttarakhand between 2000 and 2011.
