Fire Breaks Out At A Covid-19 Quarantine Centre Inside Hotel In Mumbai

Mumbai: On Tuesday a Level-2 fire broke out inside a lodging room in Mumbai's Rippon Hotel. The room was being used as a quarantine centre for COVID-19 patients. The hotel is located at Bellasis Road in Nagpada of Mumbai. Fortunately, most of the patients have been rescued. "The fire fighting operation is on. Fire confined in the hotel's lodging room, which was being used as a quarantine centre for COVID-19 patients. Most of the patients rescued, the search operation is on," the Mumbai Fire Brigade said. Meanwhile, Maharashtra and its capital city continue to be worst-hit by the coronavirus pandemic. The state has reported 4,669 cases, out of which 572 patients have recovered and 232 deaths. In a new development, "a total of 11 Police Officers and 38 Policemen have tested positive for COVID-19, since March 22 till 4 am today," said Maharashtra Police. In India, the total coronavirus positive cases have reached 18,985 after 1,329 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The country is under an extended lockdown till May 3 to contain the spread of Covid-19. "At least 3,259 people have been cured so far. our rate of recovery is highest today-17.48 percent," Joint Secretary, Health, Lav Agarwal said at the daily media briefing. (With Agency Inputs.)
