FICCI's 93rd AGM: Amid Mega Agitation On Agri Reforms, PM Modi Says, 'Farm Laws Will Open Opportunities For Farmers'

The convention is being held virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the theme of this year’s convention is “Inspired India”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday delivered the inaugural address at FICCI's 93rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Convention. FICCI's Annual Convention is being held virtually on December 11, 12, and 14, 2020.

The situation of the country after Covid has improved in December: PM Modi

PM Modi spoke on the issues the country is facing during the pandemic. PM Modi said,"In the match of 20-20 we saw a lot of things changing rapidly. But 2020 baffled everyone. The nation & the entire world saw a lot of ups & downs. When we'll think of the Corona period a few years later, perhaps we won't be able to believe it. It's good that things are improving swiftly." PM Modi also spoke about the various sectors which faced a huge loss in these unprecedented times. PM Modi said in the 93rd AGM of FICCI, "When the pandemic began in February-March, we were fighting against an unknown enemy. There were a lot of uncertainties - be it production, logistics, the revival of the economy - there were multiple issues. The question was, how long will this go on? How will things improve?" PM Modi also shed light on how things have improved in the country by December. PM said, "We have answers as well as a roadmap. The economic indicators today are encouraging. The things learned by the nation at the time of crisis have further strengthened the resolutions of future"

Foreign investors making record investments in India: PM Modi

PM Modi spoke on how India has become the land of foreign investment which is helping companies improve contributing towards nation-building. "The faith that the world placed on India in the last 6 years, has further strengthened in the past few months. Be it FDI or FPI - foreign investors have made record investments in India and are continuing to do that," PM Narendra Modi on the 93rd Annual Convention of FICCI.

Atmanirbhar Bharat promotes efficiency in every sector: PM Modi

PM Modi also spoke on policies made by previous governments that failed to improve various sectors but the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is promoting efficiency in every sector. PM also said that emphasis is being laid to re-energise technology-based industries in sectors in which India has long term competitive advantage. PM reiterated his call for 'Vocal For Local' and asked citizens to come forward and encourage the Indian entrepreneurs for better development of the country and revival of the economy.

India's Agri Sector has become vibrant, Farmers have the right to sell their produces everywhere: PM Modi

Amid the massive stir by the farmers demanding to roll nack the new Farm Laws, PM Modi said that the new Agriculture Reforms will open a sea of opportunities for the Indian Farmers. PM said that the new laws empower the farmers to sell their produce anywhere in the country and the farmers can even opt to sell the products digitally. PM said that the Agricultural sector has become more vibrant after the reforms and the new farm laws only focus to increase the income of the farmers who did not use to get the correct selling price. PM said, "We'd seen walls b/w agriculture sector & other areas associated with it - be it agriculture infrastructure, food processing, storage or cold chain. All walls & obstacles are being removed now. After reforms, farmers will get new markets, options & more benefits of technology." "The cold storage infrastructure will be modernised. This will result in more investments in the agriculture sector. Farmers will be benefitted the most out of it," PM Narendra Modi
