A minor earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale, hit Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir, on Tuesday, according to National Centre for Seismology. The earthquake occurred at approximately 8:53 am.
Taking to X, NCS stated: "Earthquake of Magnitude:3.6, Occurred on 16-01-2024, 08:53:53 IST, Lat: 33.34 & Long: 76.70, Depth: 5 Km ,Location: Jammu & Kashmir."

Meanwhile, a 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir on January 2, although there were no reports of damage, according to the National Centre of Seismology, which added that the tremor was noticed around 11.33 a.m. According to the report, the initial earthquake occurred five kilometres under the surface at 32.76 degrees north and 74.57 degrees east.
