Earthquake Of 3.6 Magnitude Hits Jammu & Kashmir's Kishtwar

A minor earthquake, with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale, hit Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir, on Tuesday, according to National Centre for Seismology. The earthquake occurred at approximately 8:53 am. 

Taking to X, NCS stated: "Earthquake of Magnitude:3.6, Occurred on 16-01-2024, 08:53:53 IST, Lat: 33.34 & Long: 76.70, Depth: 5 Km ,Location: Jammu & Kashmir."

Earlier on January 4, an earthquake of magnitude 3.9 on the Richter scale jolted Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, a 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck Jammu and Kashmir on January 2, although there were no reports of damage, according to the National Centre of Seismology, which added that the tremor was noticed around 11.33 a.m. According to the report, the initial earthquake occurred five kilometres under the surface at 32.76 degrees north and 74.57 degrees east.

According to a police official, there have been no complaints of damage from anyplace.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, an earthquake rocked Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir on December 30th. Around 04:57 p.m., a seismic event occurred at a depth of 5 km.
