Don’t Be Misled By Congress: PM Modi On Turmoil In NE Over Citizenship Amendment Bill
Tearing into the Congress party, PM said that despite making tall promises of helping out persecuted minorities, the Congress government never did anything for them.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Thursday, tore into the Congress party over the Citizenship Amendment Bill, and urged people to not get “misled” by the party.
The Prime Minister asked the Eastern and Northeastern states to shun apprehensions regarding the bill and said “I assure every state of the East and Northeast. The traditions, culture, language etc of Assam and other states will not be affected at all. Central government will work with state government for your development. Don't be misled by Congress's statements.”
He said that the politics of the Congress and its allies depends on illegal immigrants.
Addressing a public meeting in Jharkhand’s Dhanbad, Modi said “There are attempts to fuel tensions in the Northeast region. Most of the region is out of the ambit of this bill but politics of Congress and its allies depends on illegal immigrants.”

He said that despite making tall promises of helping out persecuted minorities, Congress government never did anything for them.
“Congress in the past had promised relief to persecuted minority refugees but never did anything for them. The condition in which they were living in Pakistan, similar treatment was given by Congress governments to them,” said Modi.

Taking on the party over Ayodhya issue, PM said, “we had promised that we will peacefully solve the long standing Ayodhya issue,which the Congress was deliberately blocking. Now as you can see, the path for construction of a grand Ram Temple is open.”
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a series of tweets assured the people of Assam that no one can take away their rights and identity.
Both Assam and Tripura plunged into chaos after the Lok Sabha had passed the Bill on Monday midnight and the situation deteriorated after the legislation passed its final hurdle in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday night.
