Demonetisation: PM Narendra Modi gets emotional for 2nd time, Rahul takes a jibe

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday delivered a speech to his party members over government’s demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, where for the second time he got emotional over the issue. According to PM, the move is aimed at vanishing the poverty from the country and is meant for the “poor” of the nation.
  • PM urged his party members to spread awareness amongst people about the long term perks of demonetisationa and that it has been implemented for the good of people
 
  • After PM’s speech, the BJP members passed a resolution agreeing to outlaw old currency notes
 
  • Taking a snipe at Prime Minister, Congress VP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said, “ PM can attend pop concerts, speak on television, then why can’t he explain demonetisation in parliament
 
  • While PM was addressing the BJP members, Eleven opposition parties, led by Congress met to discuss their further strategy against demonetisation
 
  • The opposition parties on Wednesday are set to hold a large protest within the parliament complex
