Delhi Lockdown: How To Apply For E-Pass, Who Needs It & Who Are Exempted - All You Need To Know

Delhi Lockdown E-pass: It is to be noted that all essential services, food services, medical services will continue, and even weddings can be held with a gathering of only 50 people for which passes will be issued separately.

As the coronavirus situation in the national capital turned critical with the shortage of beds and oxygen cylinders, Delhi has been put under a 6-day lockdown starting from Monday night. Lockdown in Delhi has been imposed till 6 am Monday, 26th April.

The movement has been restricted in order to curb the movement of people and to restrain the spread of coronavirus. It is to be noted that all essential services, food services, medical services will continue, and even weddings can be held with a gathering of only 50 people for which e-passes will be issued separately.

Also, note those who already have a night/weekend curfew e-pass need not have to re-apply.

 Who Can Avail E-Pass?

All those who are engaged in essential services like shops dealing with groceries, fruits and vegetables, meat, medicines, among others, banks and insurance offices, petrol pumps, delivery of food, among others, will be allowed to work provided they produce an e-pass.

All residents can visit the Delhi government website to apply for an e-pass online. As per the Delhi government order, District Magistrates will be responsible for the issuance of e-passes.

Here’s How To Apply For Delhi E-Pass

Firstly go to the Delhi government website to get the e-pass

https://epass.jantasamvad.org/epass/init/

-Then click on the link above to apply for e-pass

-Here you need to enter your name, contact number, district, among others, and upload a government ID proof.

-Besides this, you also need to submit a letter from your employer or establishment of work

Then click on the 'Submit' icon after which an e-pass number will be generated

Once the e-pass is confirmed, the applicant will get an SMS update. You can download an e-pass on your mobile or a hard copy can be taken.

How To Check Your E-Pass Status?
Step 1. Log on to - https://epass.jantasamvad.org/epass/init/
Step 2. Select the language
Step 3. Click on the ‘Check status’ option
Step 4. Enter your e-pass ID and click on submit

Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner SN Shrivastava urged the residents of the national capital to stay indoors.

"A lockdown has been announced by the Delhi government till April 26. My appeal to residents of Delhi is to stay indoors. Most essential services, commodities will be available," informed Shrivastava.

The number of active cases on Monday crossed the two million mark as the increasing infections kept the health care system pushing to limits.

Who Can Travel Without E-Pass?

It is important to mention that certain sections of people, including pregnant women and patients, medical personnel, persons coming from or going to airports, and students appearing in an examination, examination staff deployed for exam duties, judicial staff, electronic and print media, and government officials are exempted to travel without the pass.

But it's important to carry their proof or valid identification card when travelling. The lockdown also has an exception for inter-state and intra-state movement/ transportation of essential goods.
