Delhi-Goa SpiceJet Flight Grounded, Delayed Due To Technical Snag

According to the spokesperson, an alternate aircraft is being arranged to operate the flight.

A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Goa has been delayed due to operational reasons, as the aircraft scheduled to operate the flight had to be grounded due to a technical issue, a SpiceJet spokesperson said on Saturday, as reported by news agency ANI.

According to the spokesperson, an alternate aircraft is being arranged to operate the flight, and the passengers were served refreshments. The airlines expressed regret for the inconvenience to the passengers. 

In another incident that took place earlier this month, an IndiGo flight from Chennai with 172 passengers onboard and crew made a landing in "full emergency" mode following a bomb threat to the aircraft, reported PTI quoting sources as saying.

The airline issued a statement saying that the crew followed was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines. All the passengers were safely disembarked from the aircraft, it added. 

“Full emergency was declared for IndiGo flight 6E5314, operating on Chennai-Mumbai route on Saturday after the pilot informed the Mumbai ATC of an alleged bomb threat to the aircraft,” the report added quoting source as saying.

The air carrier confirmed the alleged bomb threat on its Chennai-Mumbai flight. Issuing a statement, the airlines said, "Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay as per security agency guidelines.” All passengers have safely disembarked the aircraft, which is currently undergoing inspection, it said.

In May, a SpiceJet aircraft bound for Leh returned to Delhi airport following a bird-hit on engine 2, prompting authorities to declare a full emergency at the airport. The flight took off from IGI airport at 1030 hours and landed safely at about 1100 hours, news agency IANS reported, citing sources.
