Covid Victim’s Body Carried In Garbage Vehicle To Crematorium; Himachal CM Thakur Orders Inquiry
This matter came to light after the victim’s brother Krishan Tinku told the media that the body was handed over to them 24 hours after death at ESI Baddi hospital and alleged the authorities carried the body to a crematorium in a tractor-trolley used for lifting garbage, PTI reported.
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday ordered an investigation into claims that a Covid-19 victim’s body was carried to the crematorium in a garbage lifting vehicle in Solan district and sought a report in this regard.
Thakur told the media in the state capital that he has asked Solan Deputy Commissioner K.C. Chaman to look into the matter and submit a report.

This matter came to light after the victim’s brother Krishan Tinku told the media that the body was handed over to them 24 hours after death at ESI Baddi hospital and alleged the authorities carried the body to a crematorium in a tractor-trolley used for lifting garbage, PTI reported.
Tinku further said his 54-year-brother, who had tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago, was subsequently referred to ESI hospital at Katha in Baddi where he succumbed to the virus.
The victim was a resident of Arki in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier on Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh reported over 2,500 new Covid-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to over 90,000.

At least 33 people succumbed to the virus while around 1,500 others recovered from the infection.
