Coronavirus Lockdown: Cross-Border Transit Into Gurugram Prohibited

Gurugram district administration has issued a new order that will further restrict cross border movement. The order came into force at 10 am on Monday.

New Delhi: The Gurugram district administration has issued notification for enforcing stricter curbs on cross- border movements across all borders of the district from 10 AM today, May 1st, 2020.  According to a report by PTI, the Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri ordered that "in keeping in view the emergent nature and potential magnitude of the pandemic and for the purpose of ensuring health and safety of human life by enforcing stricter measures -- through curbs on cross-movement across all borders of the district." The restrictions will extend to the movement of non-residents working in Gurugram and those residents working outside the district. As per the order, ‘accommodation arrangements for persons working in Gurgaon but not residents of Gurgaon shall have to be made by the concerned management at Gurgaon so as to preclude any daily cross-border transit. Persons working in places outside the territory of Gurgaon district but residents of Gurgaon shall pursue similar accommodation, arrangements with their concerned management so as to preclude any daily cross-border transit.’ The order also states that if cross border transit is unavoidable then certain measures will be strictly adhered to which includes the use of Aarogya Setu App, thermal scanning, and symptomatic screening at border check posts when entering Gurgaon. According to the order rapid testing facility during entry to Gurgaon for symptomatic persons, will also be advisable to check any spread of the virus. Also Watch: The new order provides an exemption to those vehicles with restricted movement pass by authorized officers of Central government/Haryana government, authorized government officers/staff of government offices, ambulances, ATM cash vans, LPG, oil containers/tankers, vehicles supplying essential items like PPEs, sanitizers, fruits, vegetable, and vehicles. It will also allow transit movement for vehicles carrying essential/non-essential items on Nation Highways or State Highways for cargo/raw material/finished goods but they will not be allowed to halt in Gurugram. However, ATM cash vans and vehicle with one driver and one helper involved in the supply of essentials and those who undertake cross-border transit in and out of Gurgaon every day shall be mandatorily quarantined in locations designated by the district magistrate during the entire time from their return to Gurgaon till next travel back out of Gurgaon. The order will remain in ‘force till further order and may be reviewed on a periodic basis as per the prevailing circumstances’ and that ‘it is strongly advised that the central and state government bodies/units, private organizations and individuals make preparations accordingly to avoid any undue hardships.'
