Consequential Day At Calcutta HC Today; Hearings For 6 Important Cases Lined Up
Mamata's plea on Narada sting tape case, State Government's role in post poll violence, and Suvendu's appeal in Tarpaulin theft cases are slated to be heard in today's first half.
Kolkata: Wednesday could be a big busy day at the Calcutta High Court as 6 heavy cases, including Mamata Banerjee's Narada plea and one on post poll violence in Bengal, awaist hearing in the state high court.
Mamata's plea on Narada sting tape case, State Government's role in post poll violence, and Suvendu's appeal in Tarpaulin theft cases are some of the big heavyweight cases that are slated to be heard in today's first half. Cases of Narada plea and post poll violence will be heard by the 5-member-larger benches, helmed by acting CJ of Calcutta HC, Justice Rajesh Bindal, Suvendu's appeal will be presided by Justice Kausik Chanda.
Amongst other cases in the morning, Vinay Mishra's plea of protection against Cattle smuggling, and a court-accepted Public Interest Litigation against the recent fake vaccine drive are also on the hearing list. Later in the afternoon, Mithun Chakraborty's controversial poll speech is scheduled for court's deliberation.
With a lot of significant cases being heard by the court tomorrow, it is a consequential day for the state ruling party, Trinamool Congress, and Bengal politics in general.
Recently, a letter from the state Bar Council was addressed to the Supreme Court, request removal of Justice Bindal after alleging judicial bias, partisanship and questionable conduct under his capacity as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta HC.
