Congress Quips After PM Modi's ‘I’m Not God’ Remark In Podcast Debut: ‘Proclaimed Non-Biological Status…’
PM Modi made his podcast debut with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath in a two-hour-long episode released on January 10.
Congress on Friday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his 'I am not a god' remark during his podcast debut with Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath on Friday, January 10, calling it "damage control".
In the two-hour-long podcast, which was part of Kamath's popular series 'People By WTF', PM Modi said that everyone makes mistakes, including him, as he recalled a speech delivered by him when he was the Gujarat Chief Minister.
"When I became the chief minister, I gave a speech in which I said, 'I will not shy away from hard work' and 'I will not do anything for myself' and 'I am human who can make mistakes, but I will never do anything wrong with bad intentions.' This is my life's Mantra. Everyone makes mistakes, including me. After all, I am a human being, not some God," Modi said in the podcast.
Reacting to these remarks, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh slammed the PM saying that the statement 'I am not a God' has come from the same man who had "proclaimed his non-biological status" eight months ago ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Jairam Ramesh also shared a clip from the old interview in which PM Modi can be heard referring to himself as someone "sent by God". He shared the clip on X and wrote, "This from a man who proclaimed his non-biological status just eight months back. This is clearly damage control."

What PM Modi Had Said In His Old Interview
In a television interview ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi had said that God had sent him with "ability, strength, pure-heartedness and inspiration". His remarks had sparked a massive row, with the opposition taking potshots at him, calling him the "non-biological PM".
"Until my mother was alive, I used to think I was born biologically. After her demise, when I look at my experiences, I am convinced that I was sent by God. This strength is not from my body. It has been given to me by God. That's why God also gave me the ability, strength, pure-heartedness, and inspiration to do this. I'm nothing but an instrument that God has sent," PM Modi had said.
