After BJP's FIR Against Rahul Gandhi, Congress MPs Files Police Complaint Over 'Misbehaviour' With Kharge

The Congress' complaint comes shortly after BJP leader Anurag Thakur said that the party has filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Rahul Gandhi for assault and incitement.

A delegation of Congress MPs filed a complaint at Parliament Street Police Station on Thursday alleging misbehaviour with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

The delegation of Congress MPs, including Digvijaya Singh, Mukul Wasnik, Rajiv Shukla and Pramod Tiwari, filed the complaint visiting the station in person, a police official said.

When the Congress delegation reached the police station, a delegation of BJP leaders was still inside New Delhi DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla's office, a PTI report said. The Congress leaders came with their complaint and were asked to wait inside the ACP's room. A senior officer said police have received the complaint and are looking into it.

Mallikarjun Kharge, while speaking at a press conference at the AICC Headquarters, said that the BJP MPs blocked the Congress MPs from entering the Parliament. "They pushed me, I lost my balance and sat down," Kharge said at the presser.

BJP wants to divert attention from Shah's remarks on Ambedkar that's why they are raising other issues, Kharge said, adding that the Congress will run a nationwide movement on Ambedkar issue.

Speaking on the police complaint, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said that during party's protest march in the Parliament premise, BJP leaders created ruckus and pushed Kharge, who fell and injured his knees.

The Congress leader added that the party has filed a police complaint against BJP leader and added that the ruckus in the parliament was to distract people from Home Minister Shah's "insulting remarks" made against Amdebkar.

"It was decided that we will stage a protest march from the statue of BR Ambedkar to Makar Dwar of Parliament but BJP leaders gathered at the Makar Dwar creating ruckus. In this pushing and shoving, our party president Mallikarjun Kharge fell and both of his knees were injured. Today we have come to lodge a complaint against that... All of this was a drama to distract people from the insulting remarks made against Ambedkar," Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said.

The Congress' complaint comes shortly after BJP leader Anurag Thakur said that the party has filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Rahul Gandhi for assault and incitement.

"We have filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Rahul Gandhi for assault and incitement. We have mentioned in detail the incident that happened today outside Makar Dwar, where NDA MPs were protesting peacefully... We have given a complaint under Sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131 and 351. Section 109 is attempt to murder, Section 117 is voluntary causing grievous hurt," BJP MP Anurag Thakur said.
