He said, “I went to Nizam's Palace as a senior lawyer. Can the Chief Justice intervene in any case by naming the plaintiff as CBI? How can a division bench accept a case which is being tried by a single bench? According to the rules, the case has to be referred to a third judge when the two judges disagreed during the May 19 verdict. None of the judges who are on the division bench can be on the third bench.”

In response to that Justice Indra Prasanna Mukherjee's addressed Kalyan Banerjee and said, “Give an outline of what you want to ask today, no need to discuss in detail. Show the trailer today, no need to show the whole movie.”

The next hearing has been set for August 16.

Chief Minister and the Law Minister filed fresh petitions before the High Court to file affidavits.

The CBI had alleged that Banerjee and Ghatak compromised the agency's operation and the CBI court's ruling by visiting the Nizam Palace office in Kolkata during the arrest of three TMC leaders.

The CBI, which is investigating the Narada sting tape case, detained Ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim, Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra, and former Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee on May 17.
