Unnao case: CBI denies confirming rape charge against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar

The CBI report has also alleged that the Uttar Pradesh police tried to save Sengar by trying to save him

New Delhi: In an official statement, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday denied the claims that rape charges against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar have been confirmed and stated that such stories are completely speculative. "In response to media queries related to a news item published today in a National Daily, it is stated that investigation in Unnao case is still continuing. CBI has not given any update/conclusion/views with respect to the case to any mediaperson. All such stories related to Unnao case published/broadcast in the media recently are purely speculative." A  report in English Daily TOI claimed that "CBI has confirmed rape charges against Sengar in Unnao gang-rape case" the charges which have been now denied by the agency. As per a report in English daily, The CBI investigation also revealed that ‘Uttar Pradesh Police made attempts to save him and other accused by not naming them in the chargesheet and FIR’. The probe revealed that the 17-year-old victim was raped by the MLA on June 4, after she was brought to his house by Shashi Singh on the pretext of providing her a job in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district. The girl kept quiet between June 4 and June 10, as she had been threatened. On April 13-14, the CBI arrested Sengar. Woman Shashi Singh, who is accused of taking the girl to the MLA, was also arrested.
