Bihar: 4 dead after consuming spurious liquor in Begusarai

Suspecting liquor consumption their relatives stealthily admitted them to the nearest nursing home and a local doctor was called to check on them.

Begusarai:  In a shocking incident in Bihar where alcohol is banned by the state government , consumption of spurious liquor claimed four lives in the Pokhariya village of its Begusarai district.   As per the locals, the four deceased men were friends and were consuming alcohol together in a stadium on Sunday night. Since the alcohol was adulterated, their health began to deteriorate after they reached their respective houses. Suspecting liquor consumption their relatives stealthily admitted them to the nearest nursing home and a local doctor was called to check on them.  However, within hours of being admitted in the hospital they died. Local people informed that police has not yet arrived at the scene. They informed that one of the deceased Manoj Paswan was a regular consumer of alcohol. He, along with his friends Sonu Kumar, Soni Kumar and Praveen Kumar was drinking as usual on Sunday night. After finishing their drinks when they went back home their condition started deteriorating and within hour they succumbed to the toxins. No matter what the State Government may claim regarding the success of liquor ban, the deaths caused by its consumption reveal a different story. The incident is a grim reminder of 2016 Bihar Hooch tragedy when 16 people died due to consumption of hooch (spurious liquor).
