Bengal To Get 2 Makeshift Covid Hospitals From PM CARES Fund; Rs 41 Cr Allotted

As per a release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), this proposal will augment health infrastructure in West Bengal to effectively manage the Covid situation.

New Delhi: The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund Trust has decided to allocate Rs. 41.62 crores for establishment of two 250 bedded makeshift Covid Hospitals by the DRDO at Murshidabad and Kalyani in West Bengal.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the West Bengal government would provide certain infrastructural support for the same.

As per a release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), this proposal will augment health infrastructure in West Bengal to effectively manage the Covid situation.

In its endeavor to support the augmentation of health infrastructure, the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund Trust had helped establish Covid Hospitals in Bihar, Delhi and Jammu and Srinagar.

Meanwhile, India's active caseload has declined to 8,65,432. The country reported 62,224 daily new cases in the last 24 hours and 1,07,628 patients recovered during the same time period.

Stating the daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 34th consecutive day, the Health Ministry said the recovery rate has increased to 95.80 per cent.

The ministry further said 26.19 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
