Ram Temple Inauguration: Prime Minister Narendra Modi strolled into the Ram Janmaboomi Temple in Ayodhya with a silver 'chattar' (umbrella) adorning a red folded dupatta.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ayodhya on Monday as the holy city witnessed the inauguration of the Ram Temple and the consecration ceremony. During the ceremony, the idol of Ram Lalla will be consecrated inside the grand temple. For the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi donned a special attire as he is seen wearing a golden kurta paired with a cream dhoti and patka. He strolled into the temple precincts with a silver 'chattar' (umbrella) adorning a red folded dupatta. 

PM Modi took to X and wrote, "The extraordinary moment of the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram Lalla in Ayodhya is enchanting for everyone. It is my utmost privilege to be a part of this divine event. Jai Siya Ram!"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat witnessed the 'pran pratishtha' rituals at the Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple in Ayodhya.

Besides PM Modi, other dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, UP Governor Anandiben Patel, and president of the temple trust Mahant Nritya Gopal witnessed the landmark event.

Ahead of the consecration ceremony, PM Modi had embraced a spartan routine, foregoing luxuries and adhering to religious practices for 11 consecutive days, according to sources cited by news agency PTI on Friday.

The report said that as part of this special religious regimen, Modi has chosen to sleep on a blanket on the floor and sustain himself solely on coconut water.

The Prime Minister has also actively participated in "gau-pooja," feeding cows, and has undertaken various charitable activities, including 'annadaan' and distribution of clothes, in accordance with religious scriptures, according to the PTI report. 

Earlier, the general secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Champat Rai, said the Ram temple will be opened for 'darshan' to the general public from January 23, as reported by news agency ANI. "The 'Pran Prathishtha' is expected to conclude by 1 pm on January 22.

In the run-up to the inauguration of the Ram Temple, the nationwide initiative of cleanliness drives at temples was launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party. The drive continued till January 22, the day of the Pran Pratishtha at the Ayodhya Ram temple. The consecration ceremony of the temple is slated to be performed today, and a team of priests led by Lakshami Kant Dixit will lead the rituals.
