Ayodhya Ram Mandir: Preparations For Bhumi Pujan Underway; 10 Important Developments You Need To Know

New Delhi: The construction of the Ram Temple will start after the ‘Bhumi Pujan’ ceremony scheduled to be held on August 5th. Preparations are being made for the ceremony which by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, and according to reports Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is likely to announce various other developmental projects worth Rs 500 crore on this day.

Adityanath is also keeping tabs on the preparations for the event and on Saturday had visited the site to apprise himself of the situation. Prime Minister Modi is also expected to join the ceremony on August 5th. However, reports say due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ceremony might see a smaller gathering. There are also plans to broadcast the ceremony live across the country. Foundation stones of new projects worth Rs 326 crore will be laid on the occasion while other works worth Rs 161 crore will be dedicated to the people.
Here are a few highlights of the day known so far:
- The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has said that a time capsule will be placed about 200 feet underground beneath the Ram Temple construction site in Ayodhya, the capsule will help anyone in the future who wishes to study the history of the temple.
- According to reports on the day of Bhoomi Pujan, a door will be constructed at the entrance with paintings on the highways. Plants and fountains will be seen all along the highways. The entire Ayodhya city will be illuminated with lakhs of 'diyas' (earthen lamps) from August 3 to 5 to mark the bhoomi pujan.
- CM Yogi Adityanath will announce new projects like the expansion to four-lane of 36.7 km National Highway 30 between Azamgarh and Bahraich via Ayodhya at an estimated cost of over Rs 252 crore.
- He has also said that every household and temple in Ayodhya must celebrate Deepotsava by lighting oil lamps on the night of August 4 and 5.
- UP government will also flag off the third phase of the water supply project in Ayodhya which is worth over Rs 54 crore and will be executed by the urban development department.
- Ram Katha Park which costs Rs 2.7 crore will also be kicked off on August 5th.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is supposed to lay the foundation stone of the temple.
- There will be a live broadcast of the ceremony on August 5.
- Due to rising Covid 19 cases in the country which has at present reached a total of 13,36,861 including 4,56,071 active cases, a petition was filed in the Allahabad Court seeking a stay on the ceremony. The plea which was filed by Delhi-based lawyer Saket Gokhale said that an estimate of around 200 people will attend the ceremony which not only increases the risk of infection but is also against the Centre’s policy regarding Covid 19 safety. But the court dismissed the plea saying that the claim was 'based on fiction.'
