'Blame EVM, EC When They Don't Get Votes, And Now...': Anurag Thakur Slams Congress On 'Raakshas' Remark

Union Minister Anurag Thakur has said that calling normal people 'Raakshas' shows the mentality of Congress and that the party always insults others.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur has lashed out at the Congress and said that calling voters of the BJP 'Raakshas' shows the mentality of the grand old party. He said that Congress blames EVM and Election Commission when it doesn't get votes and now it has called innocent people 'Raakshas' (demon). His comments came on the remarks made by Congress Mp Randeep Surjewala during an event in Haryana. Surjwala had said that people who support or vote for the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) are 'Raakshas'.

"If they're (Congress) calling people 'Rakshas' for not getting votes, this shows their mentality...when they don't get votes they blame EVM or Election Commission and now they're calling innocent people 'Rakshas'," he said.

Thakur said that  Congress insults the OBCs, the people of the country which India will not tolerate. Notably, the OBC part is a veiled jibe at Rahul Gandhi who was convicted for saying 'why all thieves have Modi surname'.

Earlier, speaking in Haryana's Kaithal,  Surjewala said: "...Those who vote for BJP and are BJP supporters are of 'raakshas' (demons) tendency. I curse from this land of Mahabharat..,"

Reacting to the comment, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said that BJP will take cognisance of the incident.

"Only a person born into a family of 'raakshas' (demons) tendency can think of using such indecent language. I think this is unparliamentary language. We will definitely take cognisance of this," he told the media.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala also slammed the Congress MP and said that the grand old party 'abuses the position of PM, OBC, democratic institutions, and now they have abused the citizens'.
