CM Adityanath congratulates Padma awardees from Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Jun 23 (PTI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday congratulated the Padma award recipients from the state, the UP government said in a statemen.

President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards for the year 2026 at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.

Distinguished personalities from Uttar Pradesh were also honoured.

Adityanath extended heartfelt congratulations to Chiranji Lal Yadav on being conferred the 'Padma Shri' in the field of art.

Adityanath on X said, "For the past five decades, your contribution to preserving, nurturing and giving a new national and international identity to the rich art of 'Kansa Nakkashi' has been invaluable and commendable.” “This distinguished achievement of yours has enhanced the prestige of Uttar Pradesh in the country and across the world," he added.

He also said that it was a matter of immense pride and inspiration that pioneering agriculturist and grassroots innovator from Samathal village, late Raghupat Singh was honoured posthumously with the 'Padma Shri'.

“For more than 5 decades, his dedication to agricultural service gave a new direction to Indian agriculture. By dedicating his life to the conservation and promotion of traditional seeds, he made an extraordinary contribution towards enriching the lives of farmers. His role in strengthening self-reliant agriculture and biodiversity conservation will always remain a source of inspiration," the CM said.

Adityanath also congratulated renowned Lucknow-based theatre artist Anil Rastogi on receiving the Padma Shri.

"The conferment of the Padma Shri in the field of art upon eminent theatre personality and scholar Anil Kumar Rastogi is a matter of joy and pride for the people of Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

“Through more than 1,000 theatrical performances and global theatre festivals, you have brought honour to Indian art and culture at the international level. Your research papers are a living testimony to your outstanding education, values and scholarship. Your contribution to theatre is deeply inspiring for theatre practitioners," he added.

The chief minister also stated that it was a matter of pride for Uttar Pradesh that renowned musicologist and educationist Prof. Mangala Kapoor was conferred the 'Padma Shri' for her distinguished contribution in the fields of literature and education.

"She has made extraordinary contributions to music and education. The documentation of rare ragas and the compilation of more than 40 original compositions are proof of her talent and dedication. This honour is a national salute to her tireless efforts and devoted pursuit," Adityanath said. PTI NAV KSI KSI
