From Handling Riots To Covid Lockdown, Amit Shah Praises Delhi Police For Exemplary Work

Amit Shah during his speech at the Delhi Police Headquarters, thanked them for their exemplary service especially during the 2020 hardships. Meanwhile, ahead Amit Shah's two day visit to West Bengal, senior BJP leaders visit to oversee preparations.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today praised the Delhi police for the exemplary work especially during the coronavirus pandemic. Shah who visited the Delhi Police headquarters said from tackling the northeast Delhi riots to the lockdown announced after the coronavirus outbreak, the Delhi police force has provided exemplary services to the nation.
The minister said the Delhi Police has a very large area of responsibility  and several key areas  various come under its jurisdiction such as the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Prime Minister's residence, embassies of a large number of countries, headquarters of many key organizations etc.

Acccording to a PTI report, Shah announced that 15,000 CCTV cameras will be installed in Delhi for close monitoring of crime and criminals and also for the maintenance of law and order. These police CCTV networks will also be connected with the CCTVs installed in railway stations, he added.

Meanwhile, on Monday senior BJP leaders visited Bengal to oversee arrangements for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's public meeting at Thakurnagar, the base of the Matua community which will happen on January 30.

Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in West Bengal on a two-day visit in the run-up to the assembly elections. He will address a public meeting at Thakurnagar in North 24 Parganas district, where the Matua sect holds sway in several constituencies. Mukul Roy, BJP national vice-president held a meeting with other senior leaders with local MP Santanu Thakur, who is a member of the sect's leading family the PTI report said. The leaders also discussed arrangements for Shah's meeting.

Recently, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, had said that she will contest the assembly election from Nandigram constituency. Assembly elections are due in the state in April-May. The move seems to be a challenge for Suvendu Adhikari, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, had won the same seat as a TMC candidate in 2016 elections.
