India Kawasaki Motors has launched the 2019 version of the Ninja 1000 at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 gets minor changes to the body graphics to set it apart from the 2018 variant. Otherwise, the wide front fairing with the tall three-level adjustable windscreen remains unchanged. The LED headlights have been retained as well. But they are 1.5 times brighter than before when it comes to lateral illumination on low beam. The projection distance on high-beam is up by 1.4 times too.

It continues to be powered by the 1043cc, inline-four motor producing 142PS at 10000rpm and 111Nm of torque at 7300rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed slipper clutch-enabled gearbox.

The suspension setup comprises of 41mm inverted front forks with step-less compression, rebound damping, and spring preload adjustability at the front, while the rear uses a gas-charged monoshock with step-less rebound damping and adjustable remote spring preload.

The revised shock absorbers with new linkage has resulted in a lower seat height of 815mm, down by 5mm. Braking is managed by dual 300mm petal discs at the front and a 250mm petal disc at the rear, with Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-lock Braking System (KIBS) as standard. This tech helps in countering the tendency of the bike to stand up while braking mid-corner. The bike also features Kawasaki Cornering Management Function and KTRC (including traction and wheelie control), which were available on the previous version as well. For added convenience, the clutch lever is now five-way adjustable and the seats have been redesigned for greater comfort. The damped underside helps reduce vibrations as well.

The Ninja 1000 is assembled from semi-knocked down (SKD) kits at India Kawasaki Motors’ facility in Pune. At the launch event, Yutaka Yamashita, the managing director of India Kawasaki Motors, said, “We are glad to inform all our stakeholders that MY19 Ninja 1000 is being launched in India on the same day as other countries. We always have seen a positive response to Ninja 1000 in the India market because it offers everyday comfort and enhanced touring performance.”

The Ninja 1000 will continue to be available in two colours: black and green. Kawasaki dealerships across the country have started accepting bookings for the newest version of the litre-class superbike.
