India’s largest passenger carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has recalled two of its bestselling cars in the country – 2018 Swift and Dzire – to inspect a possible defect in the airbag controller unit. Overall 1279 units will be recalled, of which 566 units are of the hatchback and 713 units of the sub-compact sedan. Vehicles manufactured between 7 May 2018 and 5 July 2018 will be covered under this campaign.

Owners of these cars can login to Maruti Suzuki’s India website and enter the chassis number of their vehicle to know whether their car is affected ones or not. They can find the chassis number embossed on the vehicle ID plate or even on the registration/invoice papers of the car. In case they are still unsure, they can visit their nearest authorized service center to confirm it.
