2018 Maruti Swift, Dzire Recalled Over Airbag Controller Issue
Maruti Suzuki is organizing a camp to rectify the possible fault from today (25 July 2018) onwards.
India’s largest passenger carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has recalled two of its bestselling cars in the country – 2018 Swift and Dzire – to inspect a possible defect in the airbag controller unit. Overall 1279 units will be recalled, of which 566 units are of the hatchback and 713 units of the sub-compact sedan. Vehicles manufactured between 7 May 2018 and 5 July 2018 will be covered under this campaign.
Owners of these cars can login to Maruti Suzuki’s India website and enter the chassis number of their vehicle to know whether their car is affected ones or not. They can find the chassis number embossed on the vehicle ID plate or even on the registration/invoice papers of the car. In case they are still unsure, they can visit their nearest authorized service center to confirm it.
The camp is held pan India and customers can contact their nearest Maruti service centre to get the fault inspected. If found faulty, it will be rectified free of cost.
Earlier in May this year, 52,686 units of the new Maruti Swift and the Baleno were recalled to fix the brake vacuum hose. Among the affected cars, 44,982 units were of the new Swift.
Voluntary recalls are done to ensure the affected part does not leads to any malfunctioning of the system, which may lead to a possible mishap.
