Want To Reduce Weight This Monsoon? Make These 5 Changes In Your Diet

Eating fried foods in the monsoon leads to rapid weight gain. With a change in seasons, our metabolism also slows down

Fried and oily foods are a hot favourite in the rainy season. Many of us welcome the rains with pakoras and samosas. There is a great rush at the roadside food stalls during the rains.

People are often seen in these eateries enjoying chaat-pakodas with dollops of tamarind chutneys and spicy chilies. But fried foods and overly spicy foods may harm the body in the long run. Consumption of fried food leads to weight gain and does provide any nourishment to the human body.

With a change in season, our immunity also weakens.  In such a situation, seasonal food must be eaten to maintain immunity. Diet and exercise go a long way in helping to reduce weight. Fried foodstuffs may be consumed in limited quantities. This helps in reducing cravings and helps in maintaining and following a proper diet plan. Know how a diet plan should be to lose weight in the rainy season.

1- Eat Healthy Food: In order to control food cravings, small meal plans should be made in advance and followed throughout the week. This helps in controlling the cravings and the weight. It takes time for the body to digest food during the monsoon. Hence one should only eat healthy and digestible food that is light on the stomach. There should be some physical activity between 2 meals. Fried foods may be consumed once a week.

2- Drink Plenty Of Water: We do not feel thirsty during the monsoon due to cold and damp weather and hence we consume less water. However, it is important to drink adequate water. Drinking plenty of water flushes out toxins from the body, which helps in reducing weight. Drinking water also reduces appetite, so it is important to keep the body fully hydrated in the monsoon.

3- Drink Soup: Cold beverages and foodstuffs should be avoided during the rainy season. Soup is an ideal food that can be included in the diet during the rainy season. Soup nourishes the body as it contains vegetables and proteins. The vegetable soup is also beneficial for the body. However, too many spices should not be added to the soup. Adding a good amount of vegetables to the soup makes the soup tasty and flavourful. Hot soup is classic comfort food during the rains which help to keep the weight in check.

4- Eat Antioxidant-rich fruits: Apart from soups and vegetables, antioxidant-rich fruits also help in weight loss during the monsoon. The fruits that are available in this season have many antioxidant properties which improve the immunity of the body. Seasonal fruits help keep infection at bay by increasing the body's immunity. It is said, that"An apple a day keeps the doctor away". Indeed, regular consumption of fruits benefits the body in many ways. Fruits reduce the hunger pangs in our bodies and are a great way to avoid junk food. In the rainy season, fruits like chikoo, litchi, jamun, peach are readily available. All these fruits are rich in vitamin C and help strengthen immunity.

5- Ginger Tea: A great way to enjoy the rain is to sit on the balcony with a cup of hot ginger tea. Ginger tea is full of antioxidants and a great favourite amongst tea lovers. Ginger is beneficial for health and for reducing weight. However, a minimal amount of sugar should be added to the tea as overconsumption of sugar is harmful.
