Amritsar on Monday (November 27) witnessed a spectacular display of firecrackers as the city celebrated the 554th Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Nanak Dev. The Golden Temple radiated with lights on this auspicious occasion, news agency ANI posted the visuals of the same on X (formerly Twitter).

Devotees in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, gathered at a gurdwara to offer prayers, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath also participated in the 'Dev Deepawali' celebrations in Varanasi. The ancient city was aglow with earthen lamps, creating a mesmerizing sight at Raj Ghat as 'Dev Deepavali' festivities unfolded.

The festival falls on the fifteenth lunar day of the Kartik month in the Hindu calendar, commonly observed in November. Globally, Sikhs honour the 554th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji on November 27, acknowledging his role in founding Sikhism and spreading spiritual wisdom.

Born in 1469 in Rai Bhoi Ki Talwandi (now Nanaka Sahib, near Lahore, Pakistan), Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings have left an enduring impact. Guru Nanak Jayanti is distinctive as it commemorates the first guru's birth and holds significance for Sikhs worldwide.

In India, Guru Nanak Jayanti is a gazetted holiday marked by a 48-hour continuous recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib in Gurudwaras, known as Akhand Path. Prabhat Pheris, Akhand Path, Nagar kirtan, and langar are integral to the celebrations, reflecting devotion and service.

Devotees actively engage in Sewa, offering food to commemorate Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings of equality and service. The festivities, extending late into the night, encompass prayers, hymns, and the shared joy of the langar.
