The fourth and concluding day of the four-day Chhath Mahaparv is performed in the morning of the Saptami Tithi of Kartik, Shukla Paksha. This year, Usha Arghya will be performed on Saturday, November 21. The sun is expected to rise at 6:49 AM and set at about 5:25 PM.
Chhath Puja 2020: Usha Arghya Vidhi
People who fast on the occasion of vrat usually wake up at least two hours before sunrise. Take bath, wear clean and fresh clothes, and prepare for the Arghya. Keep all the offerings for the Sun God and Chhathi Maiyya ready in the basket.
As you begin the puja, seek the blessings of river Ganga. Prepare a mandap with sugarcanes, and an idol of Chhathi Maiya with clay. Then light a lamp and offer to Chhathi Maiyya.
Stand in knee-deep water with the winnow (containing all the offerings, a lamp and an incense stick) in your hand and offer the contents as you catch the first few glimpses of the rising sun.
Now pour raw cow milk into the winnow, as you do a Pradakshina and dip the winnow in the waters. Repeat this process five times. After the puja and offering to the Sun God, you may break your fast.
