Has Delhi Overcome Peak In Second Wave of Covid-19? Here's What CM Arvind Kejriwal Said About The Situation

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal talked about the second wave of Coronavirus cases, increased testing and recoveries.

New Delhi: The national capital has overcome the peak in its second wave of coronavirus infections and the situation has been contained to a great extent, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday. ALSO READ | Coronavirus: India Records 61,267 New Cases, Its Lowest Spike Since August | State-Wise Tally Here "Delhi hit the peak of the second wave of Covid-19 on September 17 when 4,500 cases were reported. The situation has been controlled to a large extent," he said. Kejriwal said the Delhi government has increased the testing to spot the infections early. He also said that in hospitals, 10,000 beds are now vacant. "I hope the second wave will slowly pass," Kejriwal said. Earlier the CM had shared a tweet stating that in LNJP Hospital in Delhi, around 8,000 Coronavirus patients have been discharged from since March. The official claimed that it is highest in any government hospital across India. They risked their own lives to serve people". According to the latest statistics shared by the Ministery of Information and Broadcasting, the total number of Covid-19 cases in India (as of October 6, 2020) is 66,85,082. This includes 9,19,023 (13.7%) active cases, 56,62,490 (84.7%) recovered patients and 1,03,569 (1.5%) deaths. Meanwhile, in Delhi, the total number of Covid-19 cases is 2,92,560.
