Bihar IPS Officer Amit Lodha, Who Inspired Netflix's Series Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, Suspended

Amit Lodha was accused of corruption and for allegedly entering into a commercial arrangement with Netflix while holding a government position.

New Delhi: Amit Lodha, a Bihar IPS officer who gained fame after the release of the web series 'Khakee: The Bihar Chapter', has been suspended. After a case was filed against Lodha on suspicion of corruption and for allegedly engaging in a business deal with Netflix while holding a government position, he was dismissed.

Reportedly, Lodha signed a contract with the streaming service while he was still an IPS officer in order to negotiate a deal with the production company Friday Storytellers, according to an official statement. A case against him was filed by the Bihar Special Vigilance Unit.

After the department's investigation revealed that the charges of Lodha's corruption were genuine, the Special Vigilance Unit filed a complaint on December 7 under sections 120B and 168 of the IPC as well as parts of the Prevention of Corruption Act, or PC Act.

“While serving as an IPS officer, Lodha signed an agreement with a private firm that caused him financial gains. He allegedly agreed to a deal with a firm that produced web series on his book. Lodha is not an established story writer nor was he authorised to write a book and use it for commercial purposes," the vigilance unit reportedly said in the statement.

Amit Lodha previously told India Today, while taling about the Netflix series 'Khakee: The Bihar Chapter',"We are proud of Bihar Police and men who sacrificed their life in the line of duty and who have worked to make Bihar crime free."
