It is anticipated that the production of 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' will be one of the most expensive endeavours in the country.

New Delhi: The historical drama 'Ponniyin Selvan 1,' directed by Mani Ratnam, has been making headlines because of its acclaimed cast. It is anticipated that the production of the movie will be one of the most expensive endeavours that have ever been tried in the country.

The movie stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, Vikram, Karthi, R Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R Parthiban.

Recently, actress Trisha Krishnan posted a new photo on her Instagram account in which she and Aishwarya are seen clicking a selfie while on the set of the magnum opus. The two divas can be seen dressed in their glamorous costumes. Trisha wrote "Ash" with a hug emoji as the caption of the photo.

According to reports, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will play a double role. The roles of Queen Nandini and Mandakini Devi will be portrayed by her in the next film.

The film depicts the early years of Arulmozhi Varman, who would grow up to become the famous Raja Chozhan. The first part of the movie tells the tale of his childhood, which is followed by the rest of the events of the film.

Interestingly, the adaption of the novel had been planned by many directors and actors in the past but for various reasons did not become a reality. Earlier in the late 50s, M. G. Ramachandran tried to adapt the novel but failed.

Finally, Mani Ratnam's directed 'Ponniyin Selvan:1' will be released on September 30, 2022.
