New Delhi: Star Plus’ hit show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ has a bad news for all their ardent fans. Prominent character ‘Gayu’ aka Kanchi Singh is going to say goodbye to the show. Last year, lead actress Hina Khan aka Akshara left the show to look for better opportunities. Soon after Hina, Rohan Mehra, who played the role of Naksh left the show to take part in reality show Bigg Boss 10. And Now it is Kanchi Singh who is going to quit the show. According to a report in TOI, “The actress, who joined the show last year to play Gayatri (grown-up Naira's sister), is currently serving a notice period of three months.”

The source of the leading daily revealed, “Kanchi wasn't happy with the way her track was shaping up. Her character was sidelined and after much contemplation, she decided to call it quits. She will shoot her last episode around the end of September." Confirming the news, Kanchi said, “Yes, I have quit the show. I didn't see any future for my character. I totally understand that shifting focus from a popular couple — Kartik and Naira — to any other character could be detrimental to the show, but my character was completely sidelined in the bargain. I wish the 'Yeh Rishta...' team all the best. I'll always be indebted to producer Rajan Shahi, who launched me in the industry. I would like to play meaningful characters now and have decided to take up only lead roles." Kanchi rose to fame with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Actress was also in news when she fell in love with her co-actor Rohan Mehra on the show.
