'Ramayana' Trends On Twitter As Doordarshan Re-telecasts Iconic Show

TV buffs, fans and devotees couldn’t control their emotions after watching the first episode of 'Ramayana' on Doordarshan.

New Delhi: TV buffs have not been able to keep their calm ever since Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that Doordarshan will re-telecast 'Ramayana' and Mahabharat on public demand. The two iconic shows enjoyed a massive fan following in the 80s and they broke all TRP records. ‘Ramayana’, which aired at 9am on March 28 on DD National, became the top trend on Twitter. Several fans shared pictures of themselves while watching the show on television.  As the people sat in front of their TV screens to watch the mythological show again, hashtags like #Ramayan and #Doordarshan dominated the social media trends. Indians went down the memory lane and expressed their excitement on catching the hit show once again. Check out the tweets!
Bollywood and Tollywood actress Kajal Aggarwal tweeted, “Taking me back to childhood. #Ramayan and #Mahabharat on @DDNational with the entire family!  This was our routine weekend plan. so glad it’s restarted, great way for kids to learn Indian Mythology.”
Meme makers continued to do their job and they flooded the micro-blogging site with several memes of ‘Ramayana’.
BR Chopra's 'Mahabharat' also aired today at 12pm on DD Bharti. Several fans have requested the government to also re-telecast shows like 'Shaktimaan' and 'Buniyaad' on Doordarshan. Stay tuned for more updates!
