New Delhi: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, a renowned Hindi comedy show, announced on Tuesday that Sachin Saroff will be taking over the role of the title character of Shailesh Lodha. And the reaction from die-hard supporters was apparently not positive. Fans are criticising Sachin's entry in the show. 

Some fans have asked the creators to cancel the show rather than cast new actors. On Wednesday, netizens started the trend of #TMKOC and uploaded memes over the show's decision to replace Lodha. Many viewers have voiced their opinion that the producers should just begin airing repeats of earlier episodes rather than adding new characters and lengthening the program.

A Twitter user said, “#TMKOC old episodes & cast should officially be added as one of the mental therapies (ep. till 2000 maybe) and #TMKOC new episodes & cast should officially be added as one of the causes of mental disorders.” Someone else wrote, “Please makers bid adieu to the show no need to drag and ruin such a beauty. #TMKOC.”

One user described old episodes as ‘gold,’ writing, “End #TMKOC, don't ruin it. After Daya left the show lost it's touch a lot, Tapu and Sonu being replaced made a bit difference, not much. But after Covid it's too much, Sodhi, Anjali, and then Natu kaka died and now Tarrak Mehta, they all got replaced. Old episodes were gold.”

For the unversed, Shailesh Lodha isn't the first actor to quit ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’. Many cast members have already departed the show, including Disha Vakani, Neha Mehta, Gurucharan Singh, Nidhi Bhanushali, and Bhavya Gandhi.

Asit Modi, the show's producer, has revealed that they sought to re-sign Shailesh Lodha but were unsuccessful. Despite the recent addition of Sachin Shroff, a replacement for Disha Vakani has not been found.
