The NDPS court on Wednesday, rejected the bail plea of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's flatmate Siddharth Pithani once again.
Siddharth Pithani was arrested in May in an alleged drugs case related to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.Pithani had filed for bail last month, stating that there was no evidence against him to show that he was involved in any drugs related offence.
Pithani had also claimed that all the other accused in the case from whom there were no recoveries made were granted bail and he should be considered for release on the grounds of parity.
Pithani's lawyer Taraq Sayyed confirmed the development related to his bail plea.
Meanwhile, the Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede revealed that the court dismissed the application because they didn't find any merit in the plea.
The NCB had claimed that the investigation against Pithani is yet to be completed and a chargesheet yet to be filed. The NCB had also submitted papers of investigation to the court to oppose Pithani’s release.
Siddharth Pithani’s earlier bail application was also rejected, though he had been granted permission to be out of police custody for his wedding scheduled on June 25. Following this, Pithani had surrendered before the court on July 2, and since then has been in the custody of the NCB.
Pithani was traced by the NCB through his social media post and arrested from Hyderabad on May 28 for his alleged links in the Sushant Singh Rajput drug case.
Sushant was found dead at his Bandra(Mumbai) apartment on June 14 last year and the subsequent investigation by the police and other agencies (including NCB and ED) has been going on for more than a year now.
