South-Korean Thriller ‘Squid Game’ Officially Renewed For Season 2

New Delhi: Deemed as one of the most popular drama-thriller of 2021, Squid Game is officially renewed for a brand-new season. On June 12, 2022, Netflix announced the official renewal Korean thriller drama Squid Game for season 2. The series took the world by storm with its graphic yet addictive content.
Netflix announced on Twitter: Hwang Dong-Hyuk writer, director, producer, and creator of @squidgame has a message for the fans:”
The official tweet by Netflix consisted of a 10-seconds animated teaser featuring the infamous doll from season 1. The tweet was captioned, ‘Red light… GREENLIGHT! Squid Game is officially coming back for Season 2!’. The tweet also had a letter from the director, writer and producer, Hwang Dong-Hyuk, attached.
The letter hinted at the return of Gi-hun and The Front Man, the introduction of Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su, and a probable reappearance of ‘the man in the suit with ddakji’. Nonetheless, the exact date for the release has not been mentioned.
The letter also thanked the fans from around the world for their love for the show.
Squid Game revolves around a group of people who take up on a mysterious invitation which traps them into a competition titled, ‘Squid Game’, which consists of various mini tasks inspired by popular South-Korean childhood games. Since the people are debt-ridden, they take up on the challenge to win the cash-prize. However, every time a player is eliminated, they die.
The series has bagged many awards including 3 Screen Actors Guild awards, 1 Golden Globe, the special AFI award, 1 People’s Choice Award, and 1 Gotham Award.
The series features Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-jun, Oh-Young-soo, Jung Ho-yeon, Heo Sung-tae, Kim Joo-ryoung, Anupam Tripathi, You Seong-joo, and Lee You-mi in major roles.
