Sidharth Malhotra To Replace Akshay Kumar In 'Rowdy Rathore 2'? Here's What We Know

According to reports, Sidharth Malhotra has been offered the role of a police officer in ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’.

New Delhi: ‘Rowdy Rathore’, starring Akshay Kumar, was a huge success when it was released in 2012. A sequel to the film, named ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’, is in the works, but Akshay has declined to reprise his part. According to reports, Sidharth Malhotra, who is now preparing for his next Rohit Shetty's series ‘Indian Police Force’, has been offered another role of a police officer. The offer from producer Shabina Khan is reportedly being considered by the actor.

Shershaah's popularity has prompted Sidharth Malhotra's interest in reprising his role as a police officer in a film. However, Sidharth is now weighing his options and contemplating whether or not he should portray a police officer in another movie.

“Shabina Khan has been trying to develop Rowdy Rathore 2 for a while now, but, has been waiting for all factors to fall in place. She has finally managed to lock the core idea for Rowdy Rathore 2 and is in the conversation stage with Sidharth Malhotra to play the role of a cop in this film. Sid too has shown interest, however, is still contemplating if he should play a cop role outside of the Rohit Shetty Cop Universe,” according to a source connected to the project who spoke with Pinkvilla.

The source further said that negotiations are underway with a highly regarded filmmaker to helm Rowdy Rathore 2. The source said, “The makers are looking to take the film on floors in the next 2 months as the basics are already on paper. It’s just about getting a cast on board the film now. The talks are also on with a top director, who delivered a blockbuster last year, to be at the helm of the affair.”

Meanwhile, Twitter users reacted angrily to the news that Akshay Kumar will not be returning for the sequel.
