Salman Khan Reacts On Will Smith & Chris Rock’s Slapping Incident, Says 'Host Should Be Sensitive'
Salman Khan responded to a question about whether or not a host should exercise caution while making jokes.
New Delhi: During the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith surprised the world by slapping Chris Rock. It all started when the comedian made a joke on Jada Pinkett Smith, Will’s wife. Since then, a slew of A-listers have weighed in on Will-Chris stage fight.
People were outraged by Will's attitude, but many thought Chris should not have made light of it. An inquiry into the case has been announced by the Academy, which issued a statement condemning Smith's behaviour.
Last night, Salman Khan attended the 22nd Annual International Indian Film Academy Press Conference. He was asked whether hosts should be cautious with jokes.
Salman responded, “It’s important for a host to be sensitive. Humour should always be above the belt and never below the belt. I have hosted shows like Bigg Boss, Dus Ka Dum and so many live shows on stage.”
Maniesh Paul and Varun Dhawan, who were both in attendance at the press conference, offered their thoughts as well. Varun said, “Whenever I have been on stage, I have not offended anyone. It all depends on your sense of humour.”
Maniesh Paul said, "Earlier, humour was khul ke and now things have become sensitive. Whenever I have been on stage, I have not offended anyone. It all depends on your sense of humour."
Will Smith, who earned his first Academy Award for King Richard, apologised to Chris Rock on Instagram. The actor posted, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
