Ranveer On Deepika Joining Cannes Jury: 'Mujhe Bithayenge Kya Jury-Vury Pe?'

When asked about his reaction to Deepika Padukone joining the Cannes jury, Ranveer Singh broke into a dance. He also jokingly said he is wondering whether he will ever be called as a jury member.

Deepika Padukone is a part of an eight-member jury at the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The actress will be joining actor-director Rebecca Hall, Noomi Rapace, directors Asghar Farhadi, Jeff Nichols, and others on the jury panel. Ranveer Singh, being his biggest cheerleader, is proud of her achievement.

During an interview with Film Companion, when asked about his reaction to this, Ranveer broke into a dance. He also jokingly said he is wondering whether he will ever be called as a jury member.

“I am so happy I had to break out into a dance. I was like ‘waah yaar, people want you to be the person who decides which is the better film.’ That’s huge.’ I mean I thought to myself ‘yaar, mera kabhi number aayega kya. Mujhe kabhi bithayenge kya jury-vury pe? Aaj tak kisi ne bulaya nahi hai, kisi jury pe, ki aap decide karo kiska better hai performance (will it ever happen to me? Will they ever make me be part of a jury. No one has ever invited me, on any jury, that you decide whose performance was better)," Ranveer told Film Companion.

Ranveer also said he is proud of Deepika’s achievements and called himself her designated cheerleader.

"It's huge. Baby will be deciding which is the better film. It's so crazy. I was like- it's wow, it's too amazing. I am very proud of everything that she achieves every time. I am her designated cheerleader. You know whether it's Time magazine or Cannes, she does stuff that is unprecedented for the mainstream leading women in the industry. She's forging her own path and that is something to be extremely proud of as her partner. She makes me glow with pride," the actor told Film Companion.

Meanwhile, Deepika headed to France for the prestigious film festival on Monday night. The actress was spotted at the Mumbai airport in an all-beige outfit along with a pair of boots and a black bag.
